Photo Gallery - Who Do We Think We Are?
To end their time at Holbrook, our Year Six pupils worked
with artist Anita Andrews on a mosaic to that reflects
the diverse nature of our school. Seven faces (of real
Holbrook children) were recreated in mosaic panels to
reflect the different genders, faiths, races and heritage
to be found within this year group.
The design of faces arranged around a map of the world
arose from a study of the backgrounds of the children
and their families as part of the 'Who Do We Think We
Are?' project funded by the DCSF. Pupils looked into
the roots of multi-cultural Britain and discovered that
their own school reflects this diversity. A mosaic was
chosen as the best way to illustrate this. The £500.00
grant from 'Who Do We Think We Are?' was used to employ
Anita to work with all Year Six pupils.
The mosaic was finished in time for the end of term.
It will be placed in the school grounds to remind us
of this particular year six group.
