What a wonderful last week of term! We had great fun baking our mini Victoria Sandwiches for our Jubilee Celebration day. Everyone took it in turns to pour, mix, measure and whisk our ingredients together. Miss Webley also helped us to make some magnificent crowns. We had to stick them together and decorate them with jewels. We decided we would wear them the following day for our celebrations. In light of the Jubilee we have been learning about the Queen. We were very impressed by the fact she had three houses and four children. We rehearsed our royal wave and couldn't wait to celebrate her 70 years on the throne in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
On Friday we enjoyed a whole school Jubilee Celebration! We paraded in our finest royal attire, wearing our crowns and waving our union jack flags. We had a street party on the big playground, ate our delicious mini Victoria Sandwiches filled with cream and jam and danced to our favourite songs. After writing invitations to the Queen earlier in the week, we were astounded when she arrived at Holbrook to pay us a visit. After break time we went out onto the field and had a go at a variety of royal themed games, from pin the tail on the corgi, musical thrones to Balmoral Castle pass the parcel. It was great fun! At lunchtime we invited parents/carers into school for a picnic on the field. The sun shone, there were smiles all round and we made some wonderful Holbrook memories.
