We have kick started the term with a brand new topic about minibeasts. We are giving it the title 'The Ugly Bug Ball' like the song. We love listening to it and dancing along. This week we went on a bug hunt to find minibeasts around the school grounds. We found many in the garden area and used the magnifying pots to observe what we had found. We are so excited about our new topic and can't wait to learn all about minibeasts. Our new topic book is 'Superworm' by Julia Donaldson and we have enjoyed familiarising ourselves with the story, joining in with repeated refrains and exploring new vocabulary.
On Friday is was St. George's Day and the adults decorated the classroom with lots of St. George's flags and bunting. We learnt all about who this brave knight was who slayed the dragon to save the remaining maidens of the land, including the king's daughter. We used our physical development skills to cut out St. George's body parts and split pin him back together to make him move. We also designed our own shields. It felt good to be back learning with our friends!
