British Values
Promoting Fundamental British Values.
At Holbrook Primary School we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and ‘lived out’ through everything we do.
The government defines these values as
- Democracy
- Rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths
The curriculum provides opportunities for further understanding of the British values. In particular, our work with partner schools in other countries provides our pupils with a context in which to explore what it means to be British and to live in Britain. School events are used to promote these values and to provide experiences where the values are demonstrated.
Our belief as staff and governors is that adults should model the attitudes, values and behaviour we wish to see in our children. Our approach to promoting British values is based, firmly, in this belief.
