BLOCK ONE

You can find a daily planner with work for your child when you follow the 'School Closure' link.

Monday 23rd March

Welcome to Kingsley Class!

Welcome to the Kingsley Class page! Here, you can see some of the exciting things we have been learning about and follow us all on our learning journey. Our class is made up of children in Reception and Year 1.

Mr Gifford is the Kingsley Class teacher and we are lucky to have Mrs Ware and Miss Lainchbury to support the learning in our classroom. Our class page will be updated at regular intervals, to ensure that we share the brilliant things we have been exploring in school.

At Holbrook Primary School, our school year is divided into four blocks. Block One will run from 4th September until 15th November. Within this block we look forward to new challenges and experiences that will deepen our learning.

In Block 2 we have had lots of fun. We really enjoyed writing instructions and making our own jam sandwiches! We also learned lots about herbivore, omnivores and carnivores!

Block 3 Curriculum Overview

English:

We will undertake an author study of Julia Donaldson, exploring some of her very popular books and noticing consistent themes throughout them.

We will also develop our transcription skills by writing non-chronological reports. This will enable use to draw upon personal experiences, whilst writing in full sentences. We will be maintaining our focus on the application of phonics to develop our writing, sounding out tricky words and recognising digraphs, trigraphs and alternative sounds.

In maths, we will continue to focus on deepening the understanding of place value, addition and subtraction as well as developing core skills of counting, multiplication and number bonds. We will begin to use our depth of understanding of numbers to 10 and apply it to our understanding of numbers to 20.  We have built a strong foundation of understanding number that we are continuing to develop.
