On Monday and Fridays we will have PE, please make sure your child has a PE kit in on those days and all uniform is labelled.
On Mondays we give out spellings for a test the following Monday!

Maths
In Maths, we are beginning the year learning about Place Value, with one day of the week focused on continuing our learning on Time. We will also be doing a daily exploration in Number Sense to make sure your children are enriched with a strong fundamental knowledge of numbers, their properties and how they link together.
English
In English, we will be looking at a variety of genres. We will be starting with ‘Little Red Reading Hood’ which is a fictional story inspired by the classic tale. There will be a variety of grammar taught including; metaphors, similes, commas, question marks and adverbs. In Year 2, we will also be starting VIPERS in Guided Reading which consist of a variety of different questions relating to a particular book. Our first text will be a non-fiction book titled ‘Castles’.
Phonics
In our phonics lesson we will be using Sounds Write. Your child will have a Dandelion reading book to practise their sounds at home. If your child does get stuck we encourage children to "say the sounds and read the word". Please continue to ask comprehension questions about the story your child is reading. Children can change their book when they are confident and fluent with their current book
PSHE
During our Jigsaw PSHE session this block, we will be focusing on 'Being me in my world'.
