Week One
Welcome to Block 3- Week 1!
In Mathematics this week, both Year 2 and Year 3 children have been learning about money. We have been looking at making the same amounts, using different coins. We have also been looking at making different amounts.
In English this week, we have really enjoyed writing our own poems. We looked at the poem 'At the Zoo' by William Makepeace Thackeray. We then re-wrote this using our own adjectives and rhyming words. We did a fantastic job. Lots of children read their poems to Mrs Cottrell and she was very impressed!
In Guided Reading this week, we have been looking at different techniques to answer comprehension questions.
In Science this week, we started our new topic about Rocks and Soils. We were very excited to sort rocks into man-made and natural. We then went on a rock hunt!
This week, we also visited Redgrave class to handle their new pets. We carefully held and stroked Pearl and Snowdrop (guinea pigs). We were very gentle and really enjoyed this. Both guinea pigs did cuddle into lots of us. We also read stories to the children in Redgrave.
